Keeping Active on King Island
Everyone needs a break from the hustle and bustle of city life every now and then, and King Island has much to offer in terms of diversion.
Whether your interests lie in participating in the annual King island Marathon, hitching up for a horseback trail ride along the beach, or participating in a local yoga class, a friendly Ettrick Rocks’s on-site manager is available to help you organise any activity you wish to undertake: where possible they can arrange local guides to advise or take you to the best spots for your chosen activity.
The emerald oceans surrounding the island are home to a myriad of underwater sea life, best viewed up close and personal while snorkelling. As well as reef and sea life, snorkelers get to experience the island’s world famous seafood cuisine from a more watery vantage point. It’s no wonder that King Island has been voted one of Tasmania’s best snorkelling locations!
If a member of the family or party wishes to relax while you explore the island or putting on one of the world’s acclaimed golf courses , you don’t have to venture out alone as you can arrange to meet with local artists or artisans, or partake in crafting workshops so that you can rub shoulders with the local community.
Rejoining with your party at the end of the day is best done around the BBQ area at each of the Ettrick Rock’s retreats, where you can catch up with everyone while cooking the day’s catch.
There’s nothing more relaxing than ending a busy day with a barefoot beach stroll in the white sand collecting seashells before returning to the retreat to put your feet up and get stuck into a good book, sheltered from the prevailing winds while still enjoying the ocean views as a result of the expanse glazing surrounding each of the buildings.
